From the Forest

I live and work in the Goldstream Valley, Fairbanks, Alaska, among the trees and bogs of the Boreal Forest. In my collection titled “From the Forest,” I explore the Boreal Forest surrounding me. The solidness of the trees gives the forest a sense of permanence. However, if you look beyond this dominant visual, even just down to the roots of the trees, a different story unfolds. Microscopic creatures create the soil that trees—and indeed all plants—need to thrive. Even fungi play a crucial role in helping trees survive, while the undergrowth fights their battle over sunlight.

In each art piece, I focus on a specific aspect or relationship to highlight the wonders of the Boreal Forest.
